Sue So has been practicing in the area of technology transactions and general corporate transactions for a decade. She began her career at the boutique firm White & Lee in Menlo Park, where she worked from 1998-2002 on technology licensing, equity financing, M&A, securities law transactions, and general corporate and commercial matters. Her licensing work at White & Lee included counseling, negotiating and drafting software licensing, development, shrink-wrap, source code, bundling, evaluation, beta test, OEM and reseller agreements. Sue then moved to Yahoo! Inc. where she was Legal Director and then Senior Legal Director from 2002-2007. At Yahoo!, Sue drafted and negotiated a wide variety of licensing, strategic, and commercial agreements. She was the lead attorney for the Microsoft messenger interoperability agreement. She also handled:
- In-bound licenses for product specific and network-wide use of third party services and software;
- Out-bound enterprise software and service licensing;
- IP phone and device integration and middleware deals;
- Product co-branding and distribution deals for Toolbar, Messenger, Mail, Personals, etc.;
- Third party vendor and service agreements to enhance product offerings.
Sue graduated from the University of California Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Plant Biology in 1993, and received her J.D. from the University of Southern California School of Law in 1998.
